The Pub of the Month for November is the Sidings on Broom Lane in Levenshulme. Dave Platt is a regular and tells us why it won.
The Sidings
The Sidings is a warm community pub on Broom Lane. Built by Joseph Holt in 1987, the pub had a major refurbishment in 2024. This involved opening out the interior, and some new booth seating was added, without compromising its community feel.
It's spread across one welcoming level with a central bar, and this community favourite feels just like walking into a friend's home. Cosy, dog-friendly and disabled-friendly throughout, it offers a large pool table, darts, large outdoor seating, pie and pints, and plenty of screens for Sky and TNT Sports.
Rachael Watson, who took over in 2023, has turned this local pub into something great, with plenty of charisma. Live entertainment, music nights and karaoke every weekend, plus a brilliant tribute act on the last Saturday of the month, all add to the fun and community spirit. It also recently won a brewery award as Marketing Pub of the Year.
There’s just the one cask beer, Holt’s Bitter, but that’s no bad thing, especially as this means that both the turnover and quality remain high.
The Sidings is the perfect local for a great night out, and is just a short walk up Crayfield Road from the A6 and the 192 bus route.
